Den Druiventros is a historical staple of the Willibrorduswijk, a trendy neighbourhood in Borgerhout. Originally a grocery store, the Druiventros has had many lives in the community, but its name has remained a constant anchor thanks to the grapevines in the courtyard. Johan and Sofie have lovingly reopened its doors as a restaurant/pub and a central gathering point for the locals. There are few things that warm the heart more than good food and laughter surrounded by friends.
the mission
We were tasked with branding the new Den Druiventros with respect for the past but an eye for the future. The branding needed to reflect the cozy, welcoming, and traditional interiors while also expressing a unique personality and quality created by Johan and Sofie.
the results
We created a fun and adaptive identity with subtle nods to more traditional bar and cafe culture. There are four logo variations that enable a dynamic approach across mediums such as menus, coffee cups, labels, and merchandising. The main illustration features a bunch of grapes relaxed in an armchair, a tribute to the name and laid-back atmosphere within. An illustration of the facade re-immortalises the already icon facade and creating a sense of continuity from past to present. The overall feeling is one of welcoming community, and it being a place of comfort.
